Ellen leads the City of Adelaide’s Adaptive Reuse City Housing Initiative (ARCHI), guiding its award-winning five-year program across audits, policy, incentives, research, and partnerships. A registered architect and former Senior Design Advisor at the Office for Design and Architecture, she champions adaptive reuse, heritage activation, and sustainable design while unlocking diverse housing opportunities in the city.

• • Vlad Doudakliev - Associate Director, Fieldwork
  Vlad is a technically rigorous architect and clear communicator who leads Fieldwork’s Adelaide studio. His strength is in the problem-solving side of architecture – the tetris of bringing together complex functional programme and building elements, alongside the fine-grain detail work that determines how a building performs. He brings a particular expertise in high-performance buildings, including Passivhaus and Green Star. He’s pragmatic about the gap between aspiration and delivery – balancing progressive architecture with constructability and commercial reality and working with builders from this perspective.
  Beyond his work in practice, he has been editor of Architect Victoria magazine and PLACE, a Jury Member for the Victorian Architecture Awards 2023 for Sustainable Architecture, SA Architecture Awards 2025 for Sustainable Architecture, and shortlisted for the Dulux Study Tour in 2017, 2019, 2023 and 2024.

• • Simon Carter - Heritage Lead / Senior Heritage Architect, City of Adelaide
  Simon Carter is a heritage consultant and architect who has worked across State and Local Government heritage and in specialist heritage architecture practices. Simon is currently Heritage Lead at the City of Adelaide, leading implementation of the City’s Heritage Strategy, administering the Heritage Incentives Scheme grant program, and providing heritage advice for Local, State and National heritage places. 
  Simon recognises heritage is at its best when it is seen as a collaborative, inclusive activity that unlocks the inherited public value of places for communities. Simon believes grassroots understanding of a community's history is an essential starting point for placemaking and the success of Mainstreet revitalisation, which is ultimately reflected in investment in its heritage places.

• • Luke Trento - Director, TF Certifiers + Consultants
  Luke Trento is Director of TF Certifiers + Consultants, an independent building surveying and access consultancy established in 2012. A Level 1 Accredited Building Professional and Accredited Access Consultant, Luke advises architects, developers, and building owners across on complex building compliance, accessibility, heritage and adaptive reuse projects.
  Luke contributed to the City of Adelaide’s Adaptive Reuse City Housing Initiative (ARCHI), preparing a building compliance review examining the practical regulatory challenges involved in converting existing city buildings to housing. He has also contributed to industry discussions on seismic assessment and the barriers it can present to adaptive reuse.
  Luke has a particular interest in early, collaborative advice that separates genuine safety requirements from assumed compliance barriers, helping existing and heritage buildings remain viable while supporting good design, accessibility and the creation of vibrant, functional places.
