Mainstreet SA is delighted to be holding our 2022 Conference in the City of Prospect
City of Prospect is an inner urban community of approximately 21,000 people, located several kilometres north of the City of Adelaide. It is South Australia’s second smallest metropolitan council. It's beautiful inner urban, predominantly residential environment, rich in character and local heritage is highly sought after, made increasingly more attractive by its facilities, activities, tree lines streets, a vibrant arts and events calendar, and thriving “Village Heart”, bringing thousands of new visitors every year.
With the past 12 months continuing to be challenging for mainstreets and businesses this conference is designed to look at a brighter side of mainstreet transformations, be experiential, fun and educational, exploring all things that contribute to making our main streets destinations.
The theme of the 2022 Mainstreet SA Conference is "CREATE, CONNECT, EXPERIENCE, SUSTAIN", and whilst we will explore a broad range of main street topics, this year we particularly invite submissions that embrace Mainstreet transformations. Main streets are suited perfectly to evolve, via Placemaking, Art, Activation and Creativity into great destinations benefitting community, visitors and businesses.
The 2 days will include keynote and session presentations, as well as walking tours, panel discussions and a fabulous conference dinner. As the economic, social and cultural heart of each community, mainstreets will play a vital role in re-building community cohesion and prosperity.
Mainstreets are drivers of the economy and vital to local and national economic stability;
Mainstreets are hubs of social and cultural activity with a concentration of unique businesses, public spaces and cultural institutions that support civic life;
Mainstreets support community health, safety and the environment with localised shops, services and amenities supporting healthy lifestyle choices such as walking and cycling;
Mainstreets make communities more resilient by supporting a strong sense of community.
From a common understanding of why mainstreets matter, the conference will explore
Experiential supermarkets - complimentary or competition?
Anchor redevelopments - how to activate the space during the disruption?
Placemaking, Art, Activations.
Greenspace and mental health.
The conference will be a timely event to re-gather, re-imagine and re-energise.
Information sharing is an integral part of the activities of Mainstreet SA, and we now invite practitioners to submit an abstract to form part of the conference program. Click here to submit an abstract
Mainstreet SA would like to thank the City of Prospect and our fabulous sponsors for their support.
