Creating a successful mainstreet, precinct or town centre requires the skills, expertise and dedication of many individuals, organisations, businesses and groups, all working towards a common goal. Since 2012, through the Mainstreet SA Awards, Mainstreet SA has been recognising the great work being done to ensure that local streets, laneways, town centres and precincts continue to prosper as the social, cultural and economic hubs of their communities.
Business associations, trader groups, Councils and event organisers across South Australia are invited to enter projects and initiatives in streets, laneways, town centres and precincts.

Entries into the 2020 Mainstreet SA Awards are open now until Friday 16th October 2020, with the winners to be announced at the Mainstreet SA Awards presentation at the newly renovated Lion Hotel on Thursday 26th November 2020.
Entry fees are as follows:
Mainstreet SA Member: FREE
Non-member: $125 per nomination
People's Choice Award nomination: FREE for Members and $100 for Non-members
MAINSTREET SA AWARD CATEGORIES
1. LGA Outstanding Partnerships
Sponsored by the LGA, this Award recognises outstanding examples of partnerships between businesses, community and Government to create and deliver projects in a mainstreet or precinct.
2. Littlehampton Bricks and Pavers Public Space and Streetscape Design
Sponsored by Littlehampton Bricks and Pavers, this Award recognises street design and development work that enriches public spaces to create a cohesive and inviting mainstreet, laneway, town centre or precinct.
3. Mainstreet Marketing
This Award recognises outstanding examples of the creative use of marketing and promotion (including print, press, signage, radio, TV and digital components) to successfully attract customers and raise the profile of the mainstreet, laneway, town centre or precinct.
4. Jensen PLUS Events with expenses under $50,000
Sponsored by Jensen PLUS, this Award recognises smaller budget events, festivals, street parties and community events in mainstreets, laneways, town centres and precincts that provide benefits for businesses, sponsors and the community.
5. Small Business Commissioner Events with expenses over $50,000
This Award recognises larger budget events, festivals, street parties and community events in mainstreets, laneways, town centres and precincts that provide benefits for businesses, sponsors and the community.
6. Helping Hand Best Market and/or Street Activation
Sponsored by Helping Hand, this Award recognises the organisation of markets and/or street activations in mainstreets, laneways, town centres or precincts that provide benefits for businesses, sponsors and the community.
7. Outstanding Contribution
This Award recognises the hard work by an individual who applies their time, knowledge, talents and skills to lead, promote and support programs and activities that enhance mainstreets, laneways, town centres or precincts.
8. Kelledy Jones Lawyers Best Regional Mainstreet
Sponsored by Kelledy Jones Lawyers, this award recognises the efforts of stakeholders in regional areas and towns to work together to improve their mainstreet and/or town centre for the benefit of local businesses, the local community and visitors.
9. Community Choice
The Community Choice Award recipient is selected by public vote from around South Australia based on outstanding loyalty and support by the community for the mainstreet, laneway, town centre or precinct. It recognises the best of the best as voted by the community.
10. Innovation
The Innovation Award recognises the new and creative mainstreet projects, initiatives and endeavours undertaken in response to emerging trends, crises and/or external factors. This award recognises the role of innovation in the continual evolution of mainstreets now and into the future.
